This is a story about a 14" large sitting dark brown teddy bear. He has a ribbon around his neck with bear paws printed on it, and he wears a big logo tee that says "I love you beary much". He is a very special teddy bear, because he has a long history with us as a gift stuffed animal toy. He was inspired by President Theodore Roosevelt, who refused to shoot a defenseless bear on a hunting trip in Mississippi in 1902. His kind gesture was celebrated in a cartoon by Clifford Berryman, and soon after, a toy maker named Morris Michtom created the first teddy bear and named it after him. The teddy bear became a popular children's toy and a symbol of love and friendship. Our teddy bear is one of the many descendants of that original teddy bear, and he has been with us through thick and thin. He is always ready to give us a hug and comfort us when we are sad. He is more than just a toy, he is our friend.
